The Unspoken Rules

Horror book monsters are just fiction right? Wrong. In this small town monsters walk the streets with humans at their side. The humans do not know of course, but that is just because of The Unspoken Rules. The Unspoken Rules are rules that keep vampires in check, you could say. IT keeps them from preying on innocent humans, and instead makes them drink animal blood. There are many rules, but the most important is to keep vampires a secret. IF this secret was exposed, fear would run through the town. Humans would be afraid for their lives, and vampires would be killed. So, they keep their existence a secret from everyone accept each other. They can tell if another is a vampires with the first glance, while humans will never know. As long as vampires follow The Unspoken Rules, everything will be fine..........

Ryan bit his lip gently as he walked down the road. No point in walking, when I have a car, he thought to himself. He bumped past people, rolling his eyes at a few. Humans. He kept walking, until he got to the local park. Why do I come here again? He sat on a bench and boredly watched people go by.

Miranda texted a friend, and sat on her small house's porch. She pressed her chin to her knee, watching a couple people walk by, and down into the park. Her house was perched basically right beside the large area anyways. She shut her phone, trying not to make the snapping sound, and slid it into her back pocket. She stood up, and stretched, yawned, and covered her mouth before putting her feet back into her converse, and walking down to the park.

Ryan shrugged out of his jacket, setting it on the back of the bench. He leaned back and stared up at the cloudy sky. A perfect day. He took a deep breath the smell of humans coming from every direction. Is there anywhere they aren't? he asked himself as he watched the humans. Stupid rules, he thought his face expressionless. He never really did care for what humans thought. They were completely oblivious to the fact vampires were around.

Miranda noticed a couple of people she knew, and waved. The park was an amusing place when there were alot of people hanging around. She debated on whether to sit beneath a shaded tree, or go to her favourite bench. She shrugged, and headed to the bench. She saw someone already sitting on it and stopped. Fine then. To the tree. She grumbled in her mind, and headed towards the tree. She flopped down beneath it, and took out her cell phone again.

Ryan glanced towards Miranda and stood. He rolled his eyes and walked away from the bench. He sat in a nearby tree, his legs dangling in the air.

Miranda saw Ryan leave, and raised an eyebrow. She stood up, brushing some grass off of her, and ran to her bench to claim it. She shifted so she was sitting with her back on it, and watched some people pass like usual.

Ryan sat in the the tree silently. He sighed softly and looked around. He saw another vampire adnd watched him silently.

Miranda climbed up onto the back of the bench, balancing, and standing. She tried to walk across the top in her converse, her eyes going wide everytime she was threatened to fall. She reached the end, and turned around, walking back the other way. She stopped, and hopped down at the end.

Ryan turned his attention back to Miranda. He raised an eyebrow, leaning back on the branch. Strange, he thought to himself as he ran his fingers through his hair.

She looked around slightly, having the odd feeling of being watched. She turned to look at Ryan, and heard a loud voice. Someone was telling her to move. She turned around, and jumped out of the way. A children's wagon had been going down the sidewalk, and was about to hit her. Miranda hit the pavement, and winced. She sat back, leaning back on her arms. She noticed her knees, skinned and somewhat damaged. She cursed under her breath, and noticed the people trying to say sorry. She stood up, and limped to the bench. It hurt alot for a skin.

Ryan's eyes focused on her. He watched her intently, his instincts taking over. He hopped down from the tree, landing in a crouched position. He hesitantly stood straight and walked towards the girl.

She looked at Ryan as he neared, wondering what he was doing. She shrugged, and looked for something to rid the blood of. She found nothing, and was not so convinced that tearing a piece of her shirt off. She sighed, and slumped off the bench, to the grass. She let the blood to the grass, instead of on her.

Ryan stopped as he smelled the blood. He growled deeply and lunged towards her, standing in a crouched position and on the balls of his feet. He stared at her intently, his eyes flickering from her face to the blood. He lunged at her yet again, managing to get hold of her arm. But, another vampire grabbed Ryan and jerked him backwards. Ryan growled as he slammed into a tree. He landed on his feet, staring at the girl again.

Miranda, shocked screamed at first. What odd people! She thought, and moved away from it all sliding along the bloodied ground. She cursed heavily as she noticed, and lept up going to tree not far. She winced as she heard him against the tree, and wondered what was really happening. Does he have a problem with me skinning my knees!? She asked herself, and climbed up into the tree.

Ryan growled towards the other vampire. He turned towards him, stilled growling. He snapped his attention back on the girl and went towards her. The other vampire pushed him back again. Ryan stumbled backwards. He slowly backed off, and bolted, within seconds he was out of sight. He went home and quickly went inside.

Miranda blinked, and was sure she wasn't the only one who saw that. She hid in the tree, until she was sure he was gone, then slid down. She looked at her knees, and sighed. She retreated to her townhouse up not that far from the park. She opened the door, and went upstairs. She slid into the bathroom, and put stuff on her legs, cleaning them up from the street mess. The scene from earlier played in her mind, and all she could think of was how strange it was.

Ryan sighed as he walked into the house. His nostrils flaring and his eyes were pitch black. "Did I just break the first rule?" he asked himself as he sat on the couch. He stared at the almost muted tv, nothing keeping his attention.

"He could have been some crazy stalker." She said to herself, and walked out of the bathroom. Her knee patching job was horrific, and she was glad she didn't have to leave. She slid down the railing to the bottom of the steps, and inched off. She headed for her couch, and sat on it, looking out the large window behind her.

Ryan groaned remembering one of the rules. He went out in the woods and hunted. He took down a deer easily, before calmly walking back home, his eyes now their normal hazel.

She swung around, and hopped into the kitchen. She looked outside into her cramped backyard, and sighed. She made herself something to eat, and looked around her empty house. She didn't eat, and pushed her food around the bowl. Curiousity killed the cat. She lept up, and grabbed a jacket. She ripped the patching off her knees, and winced, opening the door. I'm no cat. She thought, and locked it behind her. She set out, to the park again, and looked around for the guy.

Ryan walked towards the park again. It wasn't his best plan. He could deal with it. He sat on a bench and sighed.

She saw him on the bench again, and made her way over, still very cautious. She sat beside him, leaning away. "Hey, I'm Miranda. The girl that like 2o minutes ago, you tried to kill me or something. I really would like it if I could have an explination." She said, her voice quiet, but Miranda was speaking the loudest she could. She was wary, and kept her thoughts to herself.

Ryan looked over at the girl and then away. "Ryan, and what happened doesn't deserve an explanation." he snapped, crossing his arms tightly.
